...Sweet Jesus, it looks as if Paul dropped a few more of his theological dinosaurs. There seems to be little hope that the Ice Age will recede within the next few eons. Therefore, I shall misinterpret his statement that the Roman Church is the "one only church" into that it is "only one church." He can infallibly lead all the Roman Catholics where he wants-I, for one, am an American Catholic...

...Plumbing. The original Willard's City Hotel was the work of two canny Vermonters, Henry and Joseph Willard. In 1850 Washington was a rough, provincial town of muddy streets and boarding houses. Henry Willard took over a row of small houses at 14th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. Within a decade, he made his hostelry the city's social and political clubhouse -partly because there was nothing better, partly because of the Lucullan table he set. ...pressures from within and without must at times seem all but over whelming to mixed couples, and the danger of emotional damage can be considerable. Georgia Herrick, 26, an editorial assistant in Manhattan, blames herself for the breakup of her own six-months'-love affair with a Negro. "In the beginning," she said, "I was trying to prove something to myself, a reaffirmation of the liberal beliefs I had been brought up under." The beliefs didn't carry her far enough. The one time that her black beau took her to a Negro hangout, she found "the language...

Mapping the Milky Way. This week the satellite will receive a radio command from earth and begin to unfurl its giant antenna system. Carried as flat ribbons of silver-plated copper alloy coiled on spools within the satellite, the tubular legs will be formed as the outer edges of the unwinding ribbons curl towards each other and meet. Tiny tabs along the edges of the ribbon will hook together as the tubeb forms, adding rigidity. At first, the antenna legs will be extended only 358 ft. from the craft, to test their stability. Then they will grow to their full...
