...couple of weeks ago, during a Wit and Humor lecture, English professor Leo Damrosch pointed out that, in literature, it’s often the jesters who have the greatest insights into life. Mercutio is the character with the most depth in Romeo and Juliet, Falstaff holds that distinction in Henry IV, and it is the fool who speaks the truth in Twelfth Night.
