...Throwdown” addresses these issues with mixed results, succeeding in being considerate yet funny, but failing to deepen the most stereotyped characters. We like that Mercedes’ dad is a dentist, but having her announce “I may be a strong, proud black woman but I’m a lot more than that” does nothing in actuality to flesh the character out. Regardless of communities or boundaries, though, surely we can agree that Drizzle is a terrible baby name...
