Bostonians are confused about why the dig is taking so long and wonder why their apartments now look out into giant cement mausoleums. ...before the film, quite appropriately, derives a lot of pleasure from bringing us there. One might argue that the movie is only about the shows that our parents watched when they were growing up, which now live on in eternal reruns on Nick at Nite--but then again, The Wonder Years, a show from our own youth, has found a home on that cable station too. The nostalgia factor isn't limited to the '50s, and you don't have to take such shows seriously to recognize that they've staked out a pretty important place in American culture...

...wonder that I might be inclined to grumble more than I ordinarily might about small charges. My irritation at being asked at the Bellagio's business center how I wished to pay for an incoming fax was based partly, I'll admit, on the fact that I had no idea where the fax came from.
