Victims of War The picture of the two wounded Afghani children that accompanied the article "Collateral Tragedies" literally took my breath away - like a kick to the chest [Sept. 15]. I wonder if those in favor of our military actions could look into these children's eyes and explain to them why America is right to do this to them and their families. ...fellow schools have introduced such measures. To our knowledge, their devices all seem so much more sensitive, and unlocking doors doesn’t require nearly as much effort. Our cards make entrance more like a chore rather than something to enjoy. Fraught with insecurity, we are left to wonder: Is there something wrong with our cards? Or are we just using them wrong? The downright impotence of these new cards has proven highly frustrating. Perhaps if we could pierce a hole in the card for a keychain ring, easy access would mitigate the problems with sensitivity. ...Tobias was also one of several speakers who freely associated Republican policies with the image of bigwigs flying around in private or corporate jets. Such implications made me wonder whether these speakers read the memoir of the candidate they are so enthusiastically supporting.
