Henry Wickham Steed, 84, scholarly editor (1919-22) of the Times of London, owner and editor of the Review of Reviews (1923-30), author (The Hapsburg Monarchy, Vital Peace) and lecturer; in Wootton-by-Woodstock, England. Famed Pundit Steed joined the Times in 1896, served as foreign correspondent in European capitals, was named editor by eccentric Press Tycoon Lord Northcliffe, in an effort to boost the paper's sagging influence.
