...Sept. 30, 1925 some $600,000 worth of jewelry disappeared from the Manhattan hotel room of Mrs. Jessie Woolworth Donahue, while the daughter of the founder of the 5 & 10? store fortune was taking a bath. On Oct. 13 Noel Scaffa walked into police headquarters, laid down a brown paper parcel containing all the jewels.
