...Workshop's greatest strength are its mood pieces. In "Moonring" Ellen Miller has given us a weird and lovely moon-misted night to Leornard Bernstein's music. But she fails to do justice to Bernstein's lyrical passages. The music is brightest in the last half of the piece, but the ballet is almost painful, with too many dancers jumping up and down on too small a stage...

...most part, however, the Workshop has recognized the limitations both of the stage and the dancers. The evening ends with a delightful, foot-tapping ballet to Ramsey Lewis' "Wade in the Water." Choreographer Ron Porter is in perfect control of all the dancers and has them all swinging together for a gay finale...

Several CLAO participants have combined their field observations with legal research for term papers in a seminar on Urban Legal Studies given by Adam Yarmolinsky '43, professor of Law. Yarmolinsky is presently planning an Urban Studies Workshop program for next year. A small group of selected third-year students will work on original urban problems offered by community agencies...

Monro's formal involvement with Miles began in 1964, when he prompted Jon Clifton '63 to organize and run a summer reading program for 10-year olds. Monro himself directed a pre-college English program in the summer of 1964 and then led a larger workshop of 300 students the next year. In 1966 he ran the whole summer program, including English, Math, and Upward Bound. At the same time he advised the Faculty at Miles on curriculum changes, and organized and recruited new staff...
