During the visit, while sound cameras buzzed expectantly, Prince Umberto had arrived at the tomb of Belgium's Unknown Soldier to lay a wreath. Pistol Man de Rosa wiggled his way through surrounding guards, fired two ineffectual shots, was immediately knocked senseless.
