...Fame Tournament at Springfield, Mass., won all three games, including an 80-69 match with Morris Harwey in the finals, to take the championship. But Yale lost games to Oklahoma City and SMU in the final ten seconds, dropped one to St. Louis by 25 points, and fell to Xavier...
Another Eagles standout is Francis Xavier "Mickey" McQuade. McQuade was the leading weight man for the Portsmouth Priory School in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, and has continued in that capacity at B.C. McQuade throws both the shot and the 35-lb. weight. He is expected to win the weight, and give Joe Naughton serious competition in the shot...
Similarly, each supporting character has his turn before the camera's lens. There is one marvelous scene in which the reservations director-the protocol here is as intricate as that of a state funeral-turns toward the camera to announce the name of each arriving celebrity. "Julie Prowse." "Mrs. Xavier Cougart." Exactly like a herald announcing the nobility to the court. Whereupon each celebrity turns, smiles, and mumbles something complimentary about Elvis. Bone to Blood. Current interest is focused on two isotopes of indium and gallium. At Ohio State University, Radiologists William W. Hunter Jr. and Xavier J. Riccobono worked with indium Ill, which was produced in the campus cyclotron. Using a special scanner, they found that the radioisotope concentrated heavily in bone in the first 24 hours after intravenous injection. As a result, X-ray photographs taken after the first day tended to reveal bone cancer. Even better, the radioactive molecules then joined proteins in the blood, concentrating in young, fast-growing tumors, thus revealing the sites of other cancers...

For the benefit of a television audience, the orchestra wore powder-blue Xavier Cugat uniforms, and played an archetypal program. Gems like the Nutcracker Suite, Peter and the Wolf, and Bolero were featured, along with the Pops's own arrangement of the score of Hair. Maybe it was the heat from the spotlights, maybe it was the lack of rehearsal, but somehow the program...
