MUTUAL admiration is all very well, and there is no possible objection to the Courant's complimenting the Yale Lit., only it is carrying the matter a step too far, to quote a stanza of a translation from Alfred de Musset, and criticise it (favorably) as original. Though translations are easy enough to write, we had noticed this in the Lit. as particularly good, and do not doubt that those who read it in the Courant, without knowing it to be merely a reproduction, will think it more remarkable than we did. The Courant speaks of another poem...
...Yale. - The average weight of the Yale Eight is 165 3/4 lbs., against an average of 176 1/4 lbs. for our crew. They will have a new coxswain this year, as Aldrich has grown too heavy. There are four men from last year's crew in their boat, while we have seven in ours...

THAT was the score at New Haven last Saturday. What does this show? It clearly shows that our Freshmen are at present a weak batting, but a good fielding nine. The Yale pitcher is a good one, but even those hits that were not base hits were not, as a rule, good square ones. Evidently there must be more attention paid to batting; there is good material in the Nine, and if they practise more at the bat, they can be a strong batting as well as a strong fielding nine. They must by no means neglect fielding practice...
