Harvard's freshman fencers lost to powerful Concord High School, 21-6, yesterday and the Yardling hockey team will play another secondary school, Lake-field College School of Toronto, Canada, today at Watson Rink.
The next Crimson winner was a freshman named Collin Magrun in the 142-pound competition. Another Yardling, Rich Battle, garnered second behind Magrun.
As Coach Benn Merritt had predicted, depth was the Yardling's main problem. The Crimson took first in seven events, but took the top two spots only in the 200 yard breaststroke as Dave Law won, followed by Pete Mikhalevsky.
Harvard freshman halfback Steve Harrison scored all three touchdowns in yesterday's 24-6 victory over Yale and set a new Yardling mark for touchdowns in a season with a total of eight.
Harrison scored the first Yardling touchdown on an 11-yard scamper at the end of the second quarter to cap a 66-yard drive in 13 plays. Quarterback Rex Blankenship, who had not started for three games, engineered the drive, mixing his snappy passes and quick-opening run.
