Reports of sexual assault in the military increased 11% last year, according to a Department of Defense study released on March 16. While the study did not conclusively explain the increase, the Pentagon called the rise in reports "encouraging" and suggested that a 2005 sexual-assault-policy overhaul might be part of the reason more victims have come forward.
