...last week. There was no easing, however, of the Soviet propaganda campaign accusing Washington of complicity in the Jewish Defense League's guerrilla tactics against Russian diplomats. Even the Chief Rabbi of Moscow joined in the protests. In a letter delivered to the U.S. embassy in Moscow, Rabbi Yehuda Leib Levin wrote: "Soviet Jews do not want the help of unsolicited protectors and fascist Jews...
Using an Elliott 503 computer, Yehuda Radday, a lecturer in biblical studies and Hebrew in Haifa, produced a 175-page statistical linguistics analysis of Isaiah. He applied 18 standard tests to measure such features as word length and vocabulary eccentricity. An additional test, devised by Radday, measured Isaiah's war idioms and metaphors. In the first 39 chapters such terms accounted for 8.65% of all nouns, v. only 5.72% in the next 27 chapters -which supports the theory that the first author or group of authors lived during the violent period of the Assyrians, the second during the peaceful...

...worst Arab terrorist bombing since three truckloads of explosives demolished Ben Yehuda Street in 1948, and the latest in a series of thrusts by Arab fedayeen commandos. Last August, ten people were wounded in Jerusalem during an attack still referred to as the "night of the grenades." In September, one Israeli was killed and ten injured by a bomb in Tel Aviv's bus station. On those occasions, angered Israelis rioted in nearby Arab sections. This time, however, police threw up roadblocks and slapped a curfew on Jerusalem's Arab section, once again dividing the Old City...
