...Yesterday the closing exercises of Commencement week were held at Princeton. The exercises began on Saturday last, with the reading of theses by the members of the Green School of Science. In the afternoon the annual Caledonian games of the Athletic Association took place and in the evening the Glee club concert was held. ...long and uninteresting game was played on Holmes field yesterday afternoon between the 'varsity nine and the professional Lowell team. So few spectators attended the game that there was some excuse for the utter lack of life which the Harvard team showed. The fielding was by no means clean, and all the infielders made very bad errors. The batting was even weaker, while the coaching was contemptible. Appleton chapel was opened yesterday for the last Sunday service for the class of '89. This annual Baccalaureate service is always well appreciated, but was made especially valuable yesterday by the rare treat of a sermon from Dr. A. P. Peabody. ...Yesterday on the Exeter campus were held the annual spring tennis tournament, and the first interscholastic athletic tournament between Exeter and Andover academies. In the tennis Exeter was victorious in both singles and doubles, and by this last victory Exeter has won the doubles cup for the fifth consecutive year. Andover won the singles match last fall, and as Exeter won it yesterday, it will be necessary to play a third match to decide the championship before the schools close.
