Harvard played by far the best game of the season yesterday afternoon on Holmes field with the professional nine from Worcester. The day was excellent and well suited for base ball. The university team wore for the first time the new uniform of gray trousers, crimson shirt and crimson cap with the monogram H. U. B. B, C, worked upon it. It is the best looking uniform the nine has had for years. Downer pitched for Harvard and played the best game he has yet played. His work in the box was excellent. ...long expected race yesterday afternoon between the Harvard 'Varsity, Boston Athletic Club and Union Boat Club crews did not prove to be as close as had been of late anticipated.
