The men went upstream to the Brighton bridge, rowed down as far as the Boylston street bridge, and then took a stretch upstream again as far as the Stillman Infirmary, before returning to the University boathouse. The distance covered was about 4 and 1-2 miles. At times a fairly fast stroke was rowed, and at other times the crew merely paddled.
