...Yesterday afternoon one of the aeroplanes of the "Pleasure Flying Co." fell into the Charles River injuring the pilot, Ensign W. E. Nightingale '15 and killing the passenger, J. L. Allen, of Dorchester. The accident occurred near the Cottage Farm Bridge before a crowd of thousands, many of whom were waiting their turn. Ensign Nightingale, U. S. N., the pilot, jumped free just before the machine hit the water, while the passenger was caught. One of the University crews was in the vicinity and members of it assisted in the rescue work.
