...suffered brain damage as a result of blows. A punch thrown by a heavyweight can land with a force exceeding 1,000 Ibs., and it can snap the head back or twist it violently, causing the jelly-like brain to be slammed against the rigid skull like a yolk inside a raw egg. When this happens, nerve cells and blood vessels may be twisted, ruptured or stretched. The brain, like any other damaged tissue, can swell, causing it to press against the inside of the skull, resulting in further damage...

When I make a salad dressing of oil and vinegar, I now generally use a malt vinegar rather than red wine vinegar because it is "sweeter" to the taste. Sometimes I add more than a dash of dry white vermouth. The exact recipe is ½ teaspoon of egg yolk put in a bowl with 1 tablespoon each of mustard and malt vinegar, plus a generous grinding of black pepper and, perhaps, a bit of finely minced garlic. ...1730s and 1820s, charismatic preachers first break the hold of the established orthodoxy through a return to the core religion of estatic experience, and then the theologians construct a new doctrinal synthesis. The process is like pushing Humpty Dumpty off the church wall so he cracks and his yolk runs down the block and then gathering it all up and making scrambled eggs for the congregation. Rifkin believes the Pentecostals, with their focus on the born-again experience as the essence of the Christian life, will help smash the walls of sectarianism, uniting people across denominational lines and even reaching...

As we see oppressed people in the nations from which we descent shaking off the humiliating yolk of western domination world-wide, we draw strength for our struggles. Our perspective is truly Third World. As our pride grows, so does our anger at the ignorance and insensitivity of the larger community at Harvard. We will not continue to suppress this feeling...
