Gregory Mason, the organizer of this expedition, has made two previous trips of Yucatan and has written many magazine articles and a book on this region. In 1912 and 1913 he did newspaper work for the New York Evening Sun. He was outlook correspondent in the armies of Villa and Carranza in 1914 and two years later in the punitive expedition led by Pershing.
