...Regine Kubos, two West Berliners, outdid 55,000 other West German couples who exchanged vows on the day by adding on a few pieces of eight to go with their wedding attire. They were married in Blindheim, a village 20 miles northwest of Augsburg, which has the postal zip code of 8888. The ceremony was scheduled for precisely 88 min. past 8 a.m. on, of course, 8-8-88. ...choice of Bentsen was something of a surprise; so too the generally laudatory reaction. He carries some campaign liabilities: his age and general lack of zip, as well as a silky style that makes it hard for Middle-Class Mike to depict Silver-Spoon George as a country-club elitist. I 'specially liked what th' two thugs (Laurence Thomsen n' Eric Oleson) wear: plaid bellbottoms n' white chaps, respectively (n' the yo-yo is a nice touch, Laurence). Not too accurate--no self-respectin' Westerner would be caught...

His cartoons and feature films sired comic books, toys, hit songs (Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?, When You Wish upon a Star, Zip-A-Dee Doo-Dah) and the ubiquitous Mickey Mouse watch. While other moguls ground out 40 or 50 pictures a year, then consigned them to rot in the vaults, Disney made a few superior films that could be recycled for a new audience of children every seven years. A half...
