The novel's first set piece comes when Harry departs Privet Drive forever (its utility as a sanctuary for Harry expires when he turns 17) under the protection of the Order of the Phoenix. It's a straight-up military operation, staged like an up-armored convoy leaving the Green Zone. Death Eaters are waiting, and a dogfight ensues...
